Dr. Michael Quartuccio, endocrinologist, commented on a recent study testing the toxicity of hair products such as anti-frizz serum, leave-in conditioners, hair relaxers, lotions—all primarily marketed to black women. “There's a host of different things it could do from problems conceiving to some issues that might arise in a developing fetus to issues with a male fetus and their reproductive organs,” Quartuccio said. “Honestly, there is some concern linked to increased risk of certain types of cancer.”
